Have your say on Southland's future
Phase 1 engagement now closed
This phase of engagement is now closed. Thank you to everyone who shared their views during our Phase 1 engagements. Your input is an important part of understanding Southland’s needs and aspirations, and we appreciate you taking the time to contribute.
If the Commission moves to Phase 2 of its investigation, there will be further opportunities to have your say. Check back here for updates.
Your voice matters
The Local Government Commission is looking at whether changes are needed in Southland’s local government structure. We want to hear your views on the issues and opportunities you see for local government in the region.
Current structure
- Gore District Council
- Southland District Council
- Invercargill City Council
- Southland Regional Council (Environment Southland)
These councils provide services and infrastructure that affect people across the region. Your insights will help us build a clearer picture of how local government is working for communities.
Why participate?
- Share your perspective: Tell us what you think works well and what could be improved for your district and regional councils.
- Reflect community priorities: Help us understand local identities, connections, and the issues that matter to your community.
- Inform future considerations: Your feedback will contribute to the Commission’s assessment and any advice or decisions it may make.
