Minister of Local Government Paula Bennett has appointed Sir Wira Gardiner as new Chair of the Local Government Commission, and Mr Leigh Auton as a member. They replace current Chair Basil Morrison, and Commissioner Anne Carter, whose terms finish on 31 July. Sir Wira and Mr Auton join Commissioner Janie Annear, who has been reappointed. The appointments are three-year terms, commencing 1 August 2015.
