Public Notice: Decision on the representation arrangements for the election of the Manawatu District Council to be held on 8 October 2022

In accordance with section 19R of the Local Electoral Act 2001, the Local Government Commission has determined the representation arrangements for the election of the Manawatu District Council to be held on 8 October 2022.

In order to provide effective representation of communities of interest and fair representation for electors of Manawatu District, the Commission has determined that:

The Council will comprise a mayor and 11 councillors elected as follows:

Ward

Councillors

Ngā Tapuae o Matangi Māori

Manawatū Rural General

5

Feilding General

5

There will be no community boards.

The Commission’s decision differs from the Council’s proposal by:

  • Increasing the number of members in the Manawatū Rural General and Feilding General Wards to five.
