At a workshop in December 2015 councillors came up with a range of potential options and discussed the benefits, costs, and risks they identified to date:
Public meetings were held in Masterton on 16 February 2016, Carterton on 17 February and Martinborough on 23 February. Participants were asked what are the best ways for the Commission to consult with the community, and what are the important issues to consider when looking at local government reform in the Wairarapa.
