Nelson City and Tasman District

Background:

In July 2010, a proposal for the union of Nelson City and Tasman District was initiated by more than 10 per cent of the electors of each of the City and the District. On 19 July 2010, the Commission called for submissions on the proposal. It received 451 submissions by 8 November 2010 (including one submission - a 'Hands off Tasman' petition - in opposition to the proposal signed by 3,510 people). Hearings were held in December 2010.


Draft Scheme

On 16 June 2011, the Commission issued a draft reorganisation scheme for the union of Nelson City and Tasman District. The Commission's findings and decision to issue a draft reorganisation scheme based on the proposal are set out in a separate report.

Final Scheme
