ARC interactive maps and starting instructions

You can view the new Auckland ward, local board and subdivision boundaries on the Auckland Regional Council’s interactive maps website http://maps.auckland.govt.nz/AucklandRegionViewer/

To view these maps you need to install Adobe Flash Player (v.10) on your computer. This may be downloaded free from the Adobe Flash Player web page.

Once you have Adobe Flash Player (v.10) installed on your computer, go to the ARC website address (above) and follow these starting instructions:
    1. Load the Auckland Council Boundaries into the view.
    (a) Click to open the map content widget (the yellow folder);
    (b) click to open the add data button (the green plus symbol);
    (c) tick the add layer box beside the Auckland Council Boundaries layer; and
    (d) click the add layer to map button at the bottom of the map content window. To view the full map content window you may need to either:
    (i) Open the full screen (key F11 or click View, then Full Screen); or
    (ii) Close the Identity and Rates Information widgets.

    2. Display options/Layer Visibility
    (a) In the map content window, click to open the layer visibility button (the yellow folder), if it is not already opened;
    (b) Tick the box beside Auckland Council Boundaries; and
    (c) For each layer (i.e. Wards, Boards and Subdivisions) there is an ‘outline’ display option and a ‘filled in’ display option. The ‘outline’ options allow the user to see all of the layers at once. The ‘fill’ options display over the top of each other but may be easier to visualise.

    3. Navigation / Property Search
    (a) Use the navigation panel on the very left hand side of the screen to zoom in and out; and/or
    (b) Use the search widget on the top right of the page to search for addresses, streets, and points of interest.

    Aerial photography as background
    To view aerial photography as the background, go to the globe symbol at the top left of the page and select aerials.

    Altering transparency of fill display option
    In the map content widget click the transparency button (the cogs symbol next to the yellow folder symbol) and drag the slider bar to the desired level.

    Re-ordering layers
    In the map content widget, click the layer visibility button (the yellow folder symbol) and drag the ‘Auckland Council Boundaries’ layer below, for example, the base region layer. This will make the property parcels, roads, etc display on top of the Auckland Council Boundaries layer.
