Establishment of a Rotorua Lakes Community

Electors from the Rotorua Lakes area submitted a petition to the Rotorua District Council for the establishment of a Rotorua Lakes Community. The Council rejected the proposal in October 2005. An appeal has been received by the Local Government Commission against the Council's decision.

Transfer of Part of Rodney District (Okura Area) to North Shore City

A proposal to transfer the Okura area of Rodney District to North Shore City was initiated by 142 Rodney District electors living in the Okura area. The Rodney District Council and the North Shore City Council decided, in December 2005, to refer the proposal to the Local Government Commission.
